Welcome to Alnwick Area Friends of the Earth, a local group of the international Friends of the Earth movement based in Alnwick, North Northumberland. We campaign locally on a variety of environmental issues, from climate change to habitat loss, and we work with local partners to help create a cleaner, greener Northumberland.
Who We Are
We are a group of ordinary local people from all walks of life who care about the environment, locally and globally. Most of us live in Alnwick or the surrounding villages, but some live further afield in North Northumberland. Find out more about who we are...
We are currently active in several local campaigns, including the Hope Tree project which aims to plant thousands of trees locally, air quality monitoring in and around Alnwick, and the fight to save Druridge Bay from development as an opencast coal mine. Read more about our work
What We Offer
We can offer advice and support with environmental issues in your North Northumberland neighbourhood or provide a spokesperson on local environmental issues. We would be delighted to come and talk at your community group in Northumberland on any aspect of our work or campaigns.
We are a friendly local group and all are welcome to our meetings. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month at a venue in Alnwick, or online while social distancing is in force. Check our Twitter feed for the latest venue information.
