Alnwick Area Friends of the Earth is a local group of the international Friends of the Earth movement. We are based in Alnwick, North Northumberland, but we welcome members from across our area. We campaign locally on a variety of environmental issues, from climate change to habitat loss, and we work with local partners to help create a cleaner, greener Northumberland. Who We Are
We are a group of ordinary local people from all walks of life who care about the environment, locally and globally. Most of us live in Alnwick or the surrounding villages, but some live further afield in North Northumberland. We have a revolving chair, but the main contacts are currently: What We Do
We have been involved in many environmental campaigns and projects in the local area, from helping with the Bullfield Community Orchard, to tree planting in schools, to working to stop opencast coal at Druridge Bay. We regularly participate in local events such as the Alnwick Food Festival and over the years we have organised our very popular Environmental Question Time with local politicians. Meetings
We are a friendly local group and all are welcome to our meetings. We meet on the evening of the first Wednesday of every month at a venue in Alnwick, currently the Youth Hostel on Green Batt, but do check first. To find information about our next meeting, you can: Annual General Meetings
We began holding Annual General Meetings (AGMs) in March 2021, and will hold an AGM every March into the future. Minutes of the meetings are posted here. (Minutes are draft until adopted by the following year's AGM.) Our Constitution and Policies
Our constitution was adopted in October 2020. You can download a copy here: Supporting Us
